Good morning Troop 380!
Our Jamboree contingent flew out yesterday afternoon, and as you read this, they have likely already arrived on the East Coast. We hope they have a trip for the ages! Also, our Camp Chawanakee group is on the road for what is to be the first summer camp for many of them! I’m sure we are all excited to hear about the adventures that both of these groups’ experiences!
Remember, no troop meeting on Monday because so much of the troop will be out of town.

We have scheduled the yearly calendar meeting for Wednesday, August 5 from 6-8 PM at the church. All youth leadership (SPL and troop leadership team as well as patrol leaders) and all adult leaders should plan to attend this important session. We will be planning the Troop calendar for 2027. This includes summer camps, campouts, service projects, district events, etc. Dinner will be provided.
Long Lake Backpacking Trip
Our rescheduled backpacking trip will take place August 7-9. See Michael Speer or Cameron for more information.
Night at the Drive-in!
If you’re looking to see a movie, don’t miss our drive-in movie night on August 14. The movie will be determined as we get a little closer to the date but will be scout-appropriate. Please save the date; more details to follow. This promises to be a wonderful evening!
Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
ILST has been scheduled for August 16 at the church from 1-6PM. All youth troop-level leadership should expect to attend this very important training session that will be taught by Drew. Please make sure you attend if you are part of leadership.
Courts of Honor
We have not one, not two, but THREE courts of honor in August! You will be receiving invitations for two separate Eagle courts of honor, and we hope to see everyone at the Summer Court of Honor, where we hand out awards and recognitions from our busy summer of activities. There is a lot to celebrate so don’t miss out!
- August 15: Nicky Belt’s Eagle Court of Honor will take place at Cordova City Hall at 5PM. Look out for invitations in the coming weeks!
- August 22: Triple Eagle CoH! Join us at our home church to celebrate three of our newest Eagle Scouts: Lucas, Nathan, and Eric will celebrate at our home church. More details to follow!
- August 24: Troop Summer Court of Honor
Family Campout
On Labor Day Weekend, September 4-7, we will hold our family campout in Monterey. This is the same weekend as the IndyCar Laguna Seca race, which is always a thrilling event for those of you who are motorheads. Save the date, and see Dustin for more information. Interest forms and signups will be at Dave and Chris’s table at the troop meeting. Final day to sign up is August 10. Cost is $12 per person, per night. Additional activities in the Monterey area available for your enjoyment include the Monterey Bay Aquarium and golfing!
Since I will be at the race that weekend, I am looking for an adult leader to lead the Pathfinders hike at Pinnacles National Park. If you are interested in leading this excellent hike, please let me know! This is one of the furthest hikes from Sacramento in the Pathfinders set so this is a great opportunity to complete a hike that you might not otherwise experience.
San Francisco & USS Pampanito
Finally, another September event is coming up that you should check out. Thanks to Nathan, we have the opportunity to spend the night on the USS Pampanito, a WWII submarine moored in San Francisco. Because of the special nature of this event, it is a bit more expensive than a typical campout. Make sure to sign up early or you may miss out on this awesome adventure!
- September 26-27
- $80 per participant, plus money for food.
- Sign up at the Troop meeting
Have a wonderful week and we will see you back at the July 27 Troop meeting for golf practice!
