Monthly Parent Committee Meeting – Tuesday
Please mark your calendar, and plan to join us for our monthly parent meeting at 7PM. This promises to be an important meeting for our troop. Sarah Martin, a Scouting volunteer from Vacaville, is on the Accessibility Committee for the Greater California Council. After speaking with multiple parents, it is clear that we as a Troop can do a better job supporting our Scouts and Scouters who have special needs. Fortunately, Sarah will be joining us for a presentation that will show us the opportunities available to us at the Troop and Council level to make sure that all scouts can get the most out of our program. If you have a Scout with special needs or would like to learn how to better support these Scouts, please join us on the 29th. I’m very excited for this opportunity to improve our program and better help all of our scouts succeed!
Angler’s Weekend – This weekend!
Many thanks to Daniel and Cindy for taking on the event. The scouts have their homework so make sure they are getting it done! There aren’t many opportunities to earn three merit badges in a single weekend so make sure to take full advantage of this opportunity!
Rosemont Community Day – Saturday!
If you are a Scout who has not yet earned 1st Class or are a more experienced Scout ready to help teach some skills, please consider joining us at Rosemont Community Park on October 3. This will be an event that combines advancement with recruitment. There is no cost for this event. Scouts and adults who will be focusing on teaching scout skills should plan to be there from 9AM through 2PM while scouts looking to learn these skills should be there from 10AM through 2PM. What better way to show the community the value of our program than to teach their kids in real time! Hope to see you there!
Troop Leadership – Seeking SPL Candidates
Landin will be completing his time in the Troop in October as he turns 18 and moves onto the next phase of his life. This will leave a huge hole in the youth leadership of the Troop, and I want to thank him for his effort during his multiple tenures as SPL. As he steps down, Raymond will be taking over as SPL, and Sarah will be moving up to 1st ASPL.
We will be holding ASPL elections on October 12. If you are interested in running for 2nd ASPL, please let me know ASAP. We will meet prior to the October 12 meeting to go over the role and associated responsibilities. Some of you have run in the past, and I would love to see you give it a go again! Leadership will change on October 19, and the newly elected ASPL will serve as SPL from July through October 2027.
If you are not interested in running for ASPL, but would like to serve as a youth leader at the Troop level, Raymond will be looking to fill out his leadership positions for the next four months.
Council Conservation Committee
Chris Tileston is heading a new Council Conservation Committee, and is looking for members to join. The emphasis will be to learn how to better promote conservation in our community. If you are interested in joining Chris on this journey, let me know!
District Fall Camporee “Halloween Haunt”
Get ready for the scariest camp out of the year and join us as we compete against the rest of the Three Rivers District! This is yet another opportunity to showcase the excellence of our Troop because local Webelos and AoL Dens have been invited to attend. Let’s show them what makes 380 the best!

Following a successful event last year, Troop 380 has been invited to return and staff the annual Cub Scout Family Campout. This is an excellent recruiting opportunity to showcase our troop, and scouts will also be working on advancement over the weekend.

Veterans Day Parade
Join us on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, as we participate in the Elk Grove Parade to honor those who serve our nation. Scouts will carry flags, including the Giant Garrison Flag. Please sign up at the next troop meeting. Families and any family veterans are welcome to participate.
Dave & Buster’s Night Fundraiser
Troop 380 is returning to Dave & Buster’s! D & B will donate 20% of all non-alcohol sales to the Troop, and we are pre-selling Dave & Busters Power Cards.

- Please invite friends and family members to help raise money for Troop 380. We selected this date two days before Thanksgiving because it will not be a school night, and you can invite relatives and friends who are visiting.
- Power Cards are good for games at Dave & Buster any night. You can use the cards at any time, not just our fundraising night. Last year D & B gave us bonus credits because we did such a great job.

Wilderness First Aid Course
Do you have the confidence and knowledge to deal with a critical emergency while camping or out on the trail? Sometimes as leaders we find ourselves in a situation where we do not have time to get medical help in a timely manner. Wilderness First Aid is a 16 hour course that focuses on prevention of incidents and the assessment and treatment of an ill or injured person in a remote environment where care by a physician and/or rapid transport is an hour or more away. We are making this course available because of our Trek to Philmont and other adventures in the great outdoors.
In March, we will be offering a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Course for leaders and older youth. Please let Dave Ishikawa know if you would like to reserve a spot in the class. The class is almost full, but a deposit will guarantee your position in the class. Several other troops are taking advantage of this offering so don’t wait.

The Safety Training Pros (course instructors) will offer a supplemental CPR/AED course on Saturday, March 13th following the WFA session. The cost for the CPR/AED certificate is $40.00.
