Scoutmaster weekly email – 5/24/26

Good morning, Troop 380 family, and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Don’t forget – NO TROOP MEETING tomorrow, May 25, in honor of Memorial Day. Please take a moment today to think about those who paid the ultimate price to ensure our freedom, as well as those who continue to fight against tyranny throughout the world. In addition, thank you to all of our veterans for their dedication to our country! We will see you the following Monday, June 1, for patrol realignment day!
Congratulations to our three newest Eagle Scouts: Eric Mo (#206), Cam McDowell (#207), and Lucas Wang (#208). It has been a long journey and each of you have reached the summit and shown that, with hard work and perseverance, it can be done! You have all shown what it takes to be an Eagle Scout and are a shining example for those scouts who are still on their own paths. Eric, Cam, and Lucas, you did not do this alone. Make sure to thank your families for being there with you throughout your journey!

Thank you to those Scouts and Scouters who volunteered for the Fair Oaks Cemetery Project. Theo, Elizabeth, and the Fair Oaks community thank you for your time! Also, we wanted to give a quick shoutout to James, Tiernan, and Torsten for volunteering and helping at the Pack 380 graduation last weekend. They helped with setup/cleanup, flags, and ran an activity station for the Cubs. If any other scouts would like to volunteer for pack events, we’d love to have them! Our next pack meeting is June 13th at 5:30 at Oki Park in CG.
Here are the details for upcoming events:
Monthly Troop Committee Meeting – TUESDAY

Please join us this Tuesday 5/26 at 7PM at Atonement Lutheran Church for our monthly committee meeting. This is the best place for you to learn how best to support your scout as well as the troop as a whole. Remember, many hands make light work and, with your support, we can make the troop even more successful!

California Pizza Kitchen Fundraiser – POSTPONED

CPK has been unable to confirm with their corporate department that we are approved for the fundraiser this Wednesday.  Because of this, we have elected to postpone this fundraiser.  Stay tuned for more information.

Leader Training – DUE 5/31

For all adult leaders, your “Safeguarding Youth Training” is due by the end of May.  As a reminder, if you do not complete this mandatory and free training by May 31, National will drop you from the roster. Don’t be that one adult who has to reapply!

Medical Forms – DUE 6/1

Don’t forget that medical forms are due on June 1. Make sure you and/or your scout don’t miss out on summer camp because the medical forms haven’t been turned in. If we don’t have your medical forms, the summer camps will NOT allow you to join in on the adventures. The form is attached here for your convenience.
Long Lake Backpacking and Philmont Conditioning Trip

This will be an excellent starter trip for many and a fun weekend for all participants. Long Lake is situated among several lakes on a ridge between the Yuba and American River canyons. We will have two groups: Group A for first-time backpackers and Group B for those with more experience. All Philmont-bound Scouts and adults will be in Group B for our first conditioning campout.
