On the evening of April 15, 11 Scouts and 4 adults from Troop 380 piled into three vehicles and headed off to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton CA to attend a 100th Anniversary Jamboree celebration sponsored by 11 northern California Boy Scout councils – Alameda, Golden Empire, Greater Yosemite, Marin, Monterrey Bay Area, Mount Diablo Silverado, Pacific Skyline, Piedmont, Redwood Empire, San Francisco Bay Area and Santa Clara. After taking a short detour off of I680 the band of travelers arrived at the front gates and was directed to our campsite. Where we surprised to find we had one of the better campsites – grass, trees and very close to all of the activities.

While setting up our campsite Eric Carlson and Crew 808 arrived, thus making Troop 380 and Crew 808 the only two units from our council. Setting up the campsite came off without a hitch even though it was dark.

Friday night’s big activity was star gazing. A local astronomy club had set up four or five telescopes and pointed them at difference points in the sky. We had the opportunity to view Saturn, the moon and a couple of other stars.

Saturday morning the group was up at a reasonable time for breakfast of cereal, milk, drinks and fruit. There was enough food that we even shared breakfast with Crew 808.

Around 10 the group headed over to the activity area to begin a full day of fun. Some headed to the Mountain Bike and BMX area, others to the Scuba tank, field sports area, Scout museum, trading post, model railroad, the OA village, Guitar Hero and many more activities.
