On July 10, 2011, thirteen Scouts and four adult leaders from Troop 380, along with drivers, left Sequoia Elementary headed for Camp Marin Sierra, located in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Yuba Gap. Upon arrival the troop met with its troop guide, who took the troop for a trip around camp that ended at the farthest camp site: Omega where we slept for the trip. Afterwards, we traveled down to the waterfront where we were given instruction and completed our swim checks in the warm lake. After setting up camp we headed to flags and then to dinner. Later everyone headed off to bed after making sure they were ready for merit badges in the morning.
During the week, the members of Troop 380 got up early to go polar bear. Afterwards we went to flags, breakfast and then to merit badges. Throughout the week the Scouts worked on the following merit badges in addition to other activities: small boat sailing, Mammals, Trail to First Class, leather working, and etc. In the middle of the week, the troop participated in a camp-wide activity where they worked diligently to persuade the staffers to return to work.
Saturday morning, July 16, 2011, we packed up camp, went to breakfast, fixed any last-minute blue card errors, and got on the road. We ended at Dave’s house where we unpacked the trailer and said our farewells. Camp Marin Sierra was a great success, with the boys earning many merit badges and awards.
