The date was Saturday, August 13th, 2011 and it was a warm sunny day when 114 members of Troop and Crew 380, both Scouts and their parents, converged at the beautiful Rancho Seco Park in Elk Grove. They were there to help put on the SMUD Employee’s Picnic for the members and their families. Everyone came ready to work in either their red Troop or green Crew 380 shirts. After setting up the tables, chairs, and canopies, the Scouts worked the carnival games and inflatables making sure all the kids had a great time while the adults of Troop and Crew 380 cooked, served food, drinks and ice cream; as well as ran the registration table and prize booth, guided the employees in the parking lot and supervised the inflatable area. The troop even played music during the picnic. The Menu consisted of tri-tip sandwiches, hamburgers, veggie-burgers, hot dogs, nachos, water and sodas and for dessert, a variety of ice cream and popsicles.
After serving over 1250 employees and their family members, the Troop/Crew cleaned up and left Rancho Seco at 5pm after another successful SMUD Picnic. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to help, it was a very successful and profitable fundraiser. See you next year!!
