Scoutmasters Minute – 12/21/2024

Last Monday’s Court of Honor was an outstanding success and I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the numerous individuals who came together to pull off such a wonderful event. It truly demonstrates the spirit of teamwork and dedication that our troop embodies.

Christmas Tree Pick Up Day

Saturday, January 4th : All Scouts and families are asked to help on Tree Pick Up Day. We are in need of trucks and trailers to pick up and deliver trees to the dump. All hours worked by Scouts will count as conservation service hours (need for Star Rank), service hours and/or scout credit. All hours worked by family and friends will count as scout credit. This is a great way to earn scout credit for camp outs, summer camps, and other scouting activities. We will meet at the Church at 8:30am to form teams and receive route instructions and supplies. Scouts and family members should wear work clothes and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring water and a sack lunch. The end time will depend on the number of trees we are asked to collect. The more participation from Scouts and families/friends the faster we will be able to work. Questions contact Becky Walters at smileplease78@yahoo.com.

Tyler Woodhull’s Eagle Court of Honor:

Brian and Amy Woodhull warmly invite everyone to join them for Tyler’s Eagle Court of Honor, a significant milestone in his Scouting journey which will take place on January 10th at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. The evening will begin with a delicious dinner served at 6 PM followed by a special program that will commence at 7 PM celebrating Tyler’s achievements and dedication. We kindly ask that you RSVP by January 2nd to ensure proper arrangements can be made. Please send your responses to AMW1376@gmail. com. We look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with all of you!

Round Table Pizza Fundraising Night

Tuesday, January 28, 2025, all day at Roundtable on Kiefer Blvd. Invite your friends, relatives and neighbors to Roundtable and help the Troop raise money. Let’s fill the restaurant! Funds will assist with our camping program. Please make sure you bring a flier with you and tell them Troop 380 sent you. We will also be hosting our monthly Troop Parent Meeting at Roundtable at 7:00 PM in the meeting room. Please share on social media so we get lots of pizza fans to this event. Take out order count too! See the attachment.

Pathfinder Hike Program (formerly the Rim of the Bay Program):

A new patch has been created by the Golden Gate Area Council for the hiking series. The new center patch can be sewn on a jacket and you can place your segments (rockers) around the patch. The Patch is $7.00 for adults. Scouts who have not received a center patch (Rim Rover Center patches included) are eligible to receive a free center patch. If a Scout wishes to get a new center patch to replace the older Rim of the Bay patch they may purchase a new patch for $7.00. Please see Chris and Dave at the information table. Patches will be ordered after the January 13th Troop Meeting.

Camperships: We know that the price of summer camp keeps going up. Troop 380 offers financial assistance for scouts wishing to attend summer camp. In order for scouts to be eligible for camperships we highly recommend participation in troop fundraising activities like popcorn sales, camp card sales, Christmas tree pick up, and candy sales. Please see Dave Ishikawa to apply for the Mary Ishikawa Campership Fund. We want all scouts to attend camp. All requests are handled in a confidential manner.

Scouts and adults attending camp are expected to complete a BSA Annual Health Medical Record form, which requires a physician’s approval in order to attend camp. Please start planning your appointment early.

Please see Michael Speer or Dave Ishikawa if you have any questions about these two wonderful opportunities. Add your names to the list for Summer Camp 2025 at the Troop Meeting and pay your deposits by the deadlines.
