Scoutmasters Minute – 11/23/2024

A message about Collections Night: I want to thank everyone who participated in Collections Night at our last Troop Meeting.   We had over 18 collections.  Thank you for sharing.  It was great to see the variety of items our scouts and adults collect.  We’ll do it again in the future.  Don’t forget that the Scouts offer the Collections Merit Badge, so you are off to a good start.  Also Coin Collecting, Stamp Collecting and other merit badges related to collections are available  Photos from the Collection Night should be posted on our Troop Website soon.  Thank you for a wonderful night.  – Dave Ishikawa

  • Troop Parent Meeting: Tuesday, November 26, 2024, 7:00 PM, at the Atonement Lutheran Church. Not only will you learn about the troop, but you will be helping to create a wonderful program for your scout.
  • Mt Tam Hike:  Saturday, December 7, 2023.  This will be a great day hike.  Scouts and their parents are welcome to participate.  The hike is free, but you’ll need to pack a good lunch, bring water and bring some cash for the ride home (for our traditional stop at In N Out)  . We need transportation to and from the hike.  You will receive a patch for your efforts.
  • Folsom Ice Skating and Christmas Street Fair: Sunday, December 8, 2024.  Our special event in Folsom is filling up quickly.  We will ride to and from Folsom via Light Rail.  Skating will take place at 10:00 AM at the rink in Historic Folsom.  Parents and family members can enjoy skating or just roam the many vendors on historic Sutter Street.   Some parents have reserved spots for breakfast, brunch or lunch.  We have over 30 skaters and more to come.  The cost is $20.00 per skater, payable to Carol Nye, Troop Treasurer.  The cost includes skate rental and 90 minutes of skating.  Light Rail fees vary by person.  Some have passes and other rates apply.  Dress is casual.  Please have your Troop 380 red hat available for the group photo.  We have well over 30 skaters so far.  Don’t be left out we do have a limited number.  Sign up at the Troop Meeting on Monday, or December 2nd before we hit our capacity. Also don’t forget all skaters, youth and adults, must sign a waiver available when you add your name to the list.   The only reason we will cancel is if there is a downpour.  We have already made a non-refundable deposit.  Please contact Chris or Dave Ishikawa if you have any questions.
