Scoutmaster Minute – July 13

Greetings Troop 380 Scouts, Leaders, and Families,

We have NO troop meeting tomorrow July 14 due to summer camp. We hope everyone attending Camp Royaneh has a great time and learns a lot! The next troop meeting is next week on July 21. Please see below for other upcoming troop events and opportunities.

Also, it is with a heavy heart that we share some sad news regarding a loss within our troop family. Zeek Kaweski’s maternal grandmother, Nonni, passed away unexpectedly this past Monday.

Zeek flew to Salt Lake City on Wednesday to be with his mother, sister, and the rest of his mother’s family during this difficult time. Walter shared some details about Nonni, noting that she was a vibrant 74-year-old who had recently returned from a trip to Ireland. Upon her return, she was diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer that quickly compromised her immune system. She subsequently developed pneumonia and was hospitalized. While her recovery was initially anticipated, the severity of her condition became clear, and she passed away approximately one week after being hospitalized.

Zeek is understandably struggling with this loss and is also very disappointed to be missing camp. If you would like to send a condolence card to him and his family, Zeek’s address in Salt Lake City is:

1056 Elgin Ave
Salt Lake City, UT 84106

Thank you for your understanding and support during this incredibly difficult time for Zeek and his family.
