Scoutmaster Minute – 22 September 2024

Greetings all,

We have a jam-packed schedule in the upcoming weeks filled with exciting events and activities. Your presence and involvement are crucial to the success of these events so we are counting on you to join us every step of the way!

Open House: Monday, September 23, 2024- This is the highly anticipated event that we have dedicated the past month to preparing for. We kindly request that you arrive promptly ideally as early as possible. The cooking festivities are scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM followed by the official program at 6:30 PM. You must extend invitations to your friends and if you successfully recruit someone to attend you will earn an exclusive invitation to the Holiday Leatherby’s Ice Cream Party in December. Ensure that you are dressed in your Class A Uniforms along with your Troop 380 hat. The setup will commence at 5:00 PM as we understand the importance of making a lasting first impression. Remember a Scout is Friendly, Courteous, Kind, and Helpful! We look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Troop Parent Meeting: We would like to remind all parents about the upcoming meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 24 2024 at 7:00 PM at Atonement Lutheran Church. Your presence and participation are crucial in helping to support our scouts and the troop. We highly encourage all parents to attend these monthly meetings as your support is vital to the success of our troop. Your involvement and input are greatly appreciated so please mark your calendars and make plans to join us for this important gathering.

Rosemont Community Celebration: Saturday, September 28, 2024- We are excited to announce that we will be setting up a recruiting booth at the highly anticipated annual Rosemont Community Celebration which will take place at the beautiful Rosemont Park. Our dedicated volunteer Dustin Trute is currently coordinating with scouts to help distribute informational fliers for the Rosemont Community Association. Not only will volunteers be able to earn pre-approved service hours for their participation but there is also a mysterious secret reward awaiting those who get involved. Join us for a fun-filled day of community spirit and meaningful service opportunities!

Pumpkin Patch: Saturday, October 12.  We are planning a great party at the  Keemas Pumpkin Patch, 6532 Point Pleasant Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95757. We will begin at 4:00 PM to hunt for pumpkins.  Take the hay ride to the patch and pay for your pumpkins at the entry station.  The party begins at 6:00 PM with treats, costume contests, music, and games.  The Scouts will guide the young ones through the Haunted Corn Maze at 7:30 PM. Future Save the Dates:
  • Veterans Day Parade – Monday, November 11, 2024, Downtown Sacramento.  We will honor those who served our great nation with a presentation of the Garrison Flags.  Scouts and adults in uniform are invited to take part in this event. If you have a family member who is a Veteran, please extend an invitation to march in the parade with our troop and pack.
  • Recruitment Campout – November 8-10, 2024, Black Minors Bar State Park. This campout has changed slightly. National BSA has implemented new rules for camping with a troop. First off, all participants must be registered members of Scouts BSA to camp overnight with a troop. So AOL scouts may camp overnight BUT must attend with their unit with their own unit two-deep leadership, proper training (BALOO), and parent/guardian. If kids are NOT currently in a troop or pack they may attend during the day.
