Bike and Ice Campout
Way back in the 1970s, Troop 380 created the Order of the Ice Cube. The purpose of the order was to educate Scouts and leaders about cold weather and hypothermia. Scouts and leaders would wake up in the morning and take a swim in a lake during the winter months. After completing a lesson in hypothermia and taking the Ice Cube Plunge, Scouts earn the coveted Order of the Ice Cube medal (a plastic ice cube hanging from a ribbon – worn on your left pocket flap). It’s both fun and a good lesson to learn. Scouts are not required to do this crazy activity, but it is a lot of fun for the BRAVE!
