The night started with many of the Scouts listening to the manager and a few of the players give the chalk talk. They talked about Scout values and how they apply to the players lives in baseball. They shared their Scout stories and what they remembered about being a Scout. Then the Scouts headed for the field. All of the Scouts got to march around the field while the crowd cheered them on. Let’s play ball! The game began and it was not a dull one. Here is a recap of the game. With Sacramento leading 7-1 after seven innings, things looked all but over for Salt Lake City. However, the Bees scored three in the eighth and a three-run home run in the ninth tied the game. Sacramento needed a rally of its own in the ninth so pitcher Brad Kilby headed to the clubhouse to put on his skin-tight Rally Pants. Sacramento started its ninth inning rally right away. With the bases loaded, the Bees switched their defensive alignment, bringing in the center fielder to play the infield. Salt Lake’s switch had no affect on the River Cats and shortstop Corey Wimberley, again came through. He hit a ground ball that bounced between the first and second base players to score and give Sacramento the victory. After the game we enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show!
