On May 23rd and 25th, Troop 380 Scouts made three trips out to the Fair Oaks Cemetery Memorial Day weekend to put up their Avenue of Flags. Each of the 350 flags is in memory of a veteran given in their honor by family members. The theme this year was “150th Anniversary of the Civil War’s End”. We had over 30 Troop 380 members helping out during the Memorial Day weekend. We arrived on Saturday morning to help direct traffic, and hand out programs. Our troop shined once more this year as we were asked to perform the flag ceremony during the program. Some Cub Scouts from Pack 281 who were there with their families to see the ceremony joined us for the flag ceremony. After the ceremony we stacked the chairs and took down the awnings. On Monday morning the scouts put up the Avenue of Flags for the enjoyment of visitors and in the afternoon took down the flags and loaded them onto a truck. All Scouts who participated earned service hours. We look forward to next year!
