On Saturday, May 29 Troop 380 participated at the Twelfth Annual Memorial Day Ceremony held at the Fair Oaks Cemetery. Vice Chairman of the Fair Oaks Cemetery District, Thomas Askins, was the Master of Ceremonies. The American Veterans Band, conducted by Warren ―Bud‖ Turner provided the musical program. This year’s theme was to honor ―The Women Air Force Service Pilots‖ (WASP).
Brigadier General, Mary J. Kight, Adjutant General for the California National Guard spoke and a flag that was flown over the nation’s capitol was presented. A Color Guard and Rifle Salute Team from VFW District 17 provided military honors and assisted in laying the wreath at the memorial in honor of over thirteen hundred veterans who are buried in the cemetery.
Troop 380 Scouts took down the flags along the Avenue of Flags on Saturday, and then returned Monday morning to set them up and then take them down in the afternoon. Thanks to all the Scouts who volunteered. The Scout leader in charge was Elizabeth Ruygt assisted by Scout Charlie P. In all 14 Scouts and 8 adults participated in the project
