We had a wonderful time at the Eternal Flame Weekend at Gibson Ranch. Troop 380 was asked to perform the opening ceremony for the Naturalization Ceremony on Saturday as part of the Eternal Flame. 25 new United States Citizens were sworn in from 15 countries. We presented the Garrison Flag and the participants loved it. Kai and Daniel performed a musical duet of patriotic music for the new citizens. It was a very special activity and great to see these people so happy to become citizens. Troop 380 was also recognized for the best campsite. Wow, can you believe your boys had the cleanest camp! We were also declared the winners of the Dutch Oven cooking contest. Not a bad weekend. We helped to retire hundreds of U.S. Flags in a dignified and proper manner. The troop did an outstanding job, taking two one hour shifts at the fire. One of the shifts was at 5:00 AM in the morning. Not a single complaint about getting up early. Kudos to the Eternal Flame staff on a terrific event paying honor to citizenship, the flag, and the September 11th weekend. Many thanks to Johnie, Phil, Steven, Ben, Rommel, Michael, Michelle and Cindi for the help with transportation and/or camping out.
