Troop 380 had a snow camp out on January 26-27 at Donner Pass. We snow shoed up the trail a mile from Boreal Ski Resort to a snow filled meadow under the shadow of Castle Peak. We built snow kitchens and snow caves and ate lots of spaghetti (Thanks Morea). Three scouts braved the snow cave including Joey S., Brian H., and Josh P.. It snowed that night so when we awoke, there was a nice fresh coat of powder. The scouts and scouters learned to keep warm, take layers on and off, and the importance of being prepared – which absolutely necessary for this kind of event. This outing was made possible in part by the Troop Committee who authorized the purchase of snowshoes this year. Thanks. We’d also like to thank the other adults who attended: Wei H., Ben K., and Peter B.
