The Rio Del Oro District paid honor to its many volunteers on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge. As always, Troop 380 was well represented at the annual dinner. After a dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, the district presented awards and recognition to the many volunteers who have made the program successful. Troop 380 presented its Unit Spark Plug Awards to Denise Rollins and Neil Ishikawa for their service to our unit. Ralph Merrill, Peggy Merrill, Sue Garcia, Jimmie Garcia, Sharon Jonas, Erik Carlson, Joe Reynolds, Elizabeth Ruygt, Dave Ishikawa, Johnie Pennington, and Norm Parker were all presented certificates by Roundtable Commissioner, Chris Ishikawa for their active part in our monthly Roundtables.
Dave Ishikawa was one of the recipients of the Phil Bollhoefer Scoutmaster Award. Chris Ishikawa, Ralph Merrill, Peggy Merrill, Til Lethco and Sharon Jonas were inducted into the Rio Del Oro District Hall of Fame for their decades of service to the district. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the District Award of Merit (locally called the Silver Bear). Cindy Frazier, Neil Ishikawa, and Mark Woosley, all Troop 380 Scouters were honored with the highest award presented at the district level. Paul Wisheropp from Troop 394 was the fourth recipient of the District Award of Merit. As you can see Troop 380 was well represented at the district dinner. A big thank you goes out to Jessica Ocenosak, the dinner chairperson, for all of her efforts. It was a good evening. Congratulations to all of our many volunteers who make a difference in the lives of the youth we serve.
