It will be a summer adventure that all who participated will not soon forget. Troop 380’s Yellowstone adventure was a trip of a lifetime. Scouts, leaders, and parents traveled over 2,000 miles on our tour of Nevada, Idaho, and Wyoming on our way to Camp Buffalo Bill, near the Eastern Boundary of Yellowstone National Park. On our way we made stops at Cabela’s Sporting Goods, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, the Alpine Slide at Snow King, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park. After arriving in Yellowstone, we toured the park witnessing geyser eruptions, roaming buffalo, shy grizzly bears, wild coyote, thundering waterfalls, thermal pools, raging rivers, and bubbling mud pots. Thanks to the planning of Dave and Chris we had a great time before the parents delivered the Troop to Camp Buffalo Bill. Many of the families continued to tour the area while the Scouts were in camp.
After camp was over, the Troop was picked up and we continued to Cody, Wyoming to visit the world famous Buffalo Bill Cody Museum. After spending the day at the museum the Troop headed for the Cody Rodeo where they saw the bull riding championships. After a great night in Cody we headed west back to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. The troop camped under the mighty peaks of the Tetons for our final night in the Wyoming. The next stop was Craters of the Moon National Monument. Our final night was back in Twin Falls, Idaho. After two weeks of traveling and camping we arrived at home getting ready to plan our next Troop 380 adventure. Thank you to all the parents and leaders who took part in this memorable trip.
Note: While we were at the Buffalo Bill Museum we found out that three Scouts and an assistant Scoutmaster had been in a fatal car accident heading home to Colorado from Camp Buffalo Bill. These Scouts and leader shared Camp Cody with our Troop during their week at camp. Our hearts and prayers went out to these Scouts, leader, and their families. Upon returning home we took up a collection of over $700.00 to assist the families. We forwarded the money to the Colorado Springs Council. It was a difficult time for all in the area since the fires had been burning while we were at camp. Thank you Troop 380 for your thoughts and kindness.
