On August 16, Troop 380 held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Aaron R. Among Aaron’s guests were his proud family, parents, Andrew and Sheri, grandparents Mike and Florence, cousin Brynn, and special guest Brigadier General Emory Hagan. The evening started out with the playing of the National Anthem and the color guard. Jamie B., as MC led the Scout Oath, and Evan F., gave the benediction. After the guests were introduced, the slide show commenced with highlights of Aaron’s life and Scouting career. Following the slide presentation was the nesting of the eagles, including Aaron’s grandfather, our tallest and oldest Eagle Scout yet. Aaron was the first Scout in Troop 646 to keep his promise to Chris Ishikawa from their visit to Jefferson’s Memorial to return a special Jefferson 2010 nickel to her on becoming an Eagle Scout. Aaron challenged the other members of Troop 380/646 to do the same. After presenting his mentors with gifts, Aaron and his parents had a special presentation for Dave and Chris that left many people teary eyed. Guest speaker General Hagan gave a moving and memorable speech on service to the community before presenting Aaron with the U.S. Army Youth Certificate of Recognition. Immediately following the ceremony was a reception and refreshments in the church hall.
