On Saturday, November 13, 2010, many loyal Scouts and their families arrived at Save Mart on Kiefer Boulevard in Sacramento, California, to participate in Scouting for Food. Scouts from Troop 380, Venture Crews 808 and 380, Pack 380, and Troop 243 were there to collect non perishable items for the Sacramento Food Bank. The majority of the group went around the surrounding neighborhood collecting cans from residents. The Scouts asked the residents for any cans or items they could spare. One man actually returned with every non perishable food item in his kitchen cabinets! Some donors bought cans and others from Save Mart to donate. The total number of items collected was 4,387, which weighed a hefty amount of just over 3,200 pounds. At about 11:45 everyone had lunch provided by Straw Hat Pizza. After lunch a few Scouts returned to their routes to collect more donations. When asked, many Scouts said they would do it again next year.
