Monterey and Pinnacles

by Gabriel P. & Kim Perry-Reed

On February 14th we left from Dave’s house to Monterey with 19 scouts and some families making a total of 36 people. When we got there we set up camp, and then hiked to where California became a state, the original jail of Monterey and, a school house.  The next day we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium where you could see jellyfish, octopi, and huge fish to explore and a few scout worked on their oceanography merit badge.  Then we walked down Canary Row and looked at the shops. Finally we went and the wharf. Then went back to camp; on the last day we went to one of the Rim of the Bay, Pinnacles.  There were a few a more people that meet us for the hike at Pinnacles which brought us up to a total of 42 people hiking.  We hiked for a few hours through the caves and went to the peak, which had a beautiful view.  On the way home we stopped at In n’ Out to eat and got home when it was dark.  I was a very eventful  and fun camping trip.
